Alexandria police officer arrested on rape, domestic violence charges

An Alexandria police officer has been arrested on rape and other related domestic violence charges in Prince William County.

Khurram Chaudhary, a veteran of the Alexandria Police Department for almost four years, was under investigation by police in both Alexandria and Prince William County after a 30-year-old woman reported several domestic violence incidents that allegedly took place between June 2017 and Jan. 2018 at their home in Woodbridge.

Police say in one incident, the victim reported that Chaudhary pushed her before pulling out a knife and pressing it against her back. She was not injured during the incident.

In another incident, the woman told police that a verbal altercation between the two led to the 31-year-old officer throwing a caustic substance on the victim, which caused a burning sensation to her face, hands and feet, Prince William County police said.

In a third reported incident, the woman said she was sexually assaulted by Chaudhary, according to police.

Following their investigation, Prince William County police arrested Chaudhary and charged him with rape, malicious wounding with a caustic substance and assault and battery.

Chaudhary was placed on administrative leave and his police powers were revoked after his arrest.

The Alexandria Police Department is continuing its own investigation on Chaudhary.
