9-old-girl injured in Northeast shooting, police say
WASHINGTON - A 9-year-old girl has been taken to the hospital, police say, after she was shot Friday in Northeast.
DC police say the girl was taken to the hospital conscious and breathing with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say they were called just before 9:30 p.m. to the 1600 block of E Street Northeast for reports of the shooting.
Commander William Fitzgerald with DC police says the girl was found by someone who happened to be nearby. Investigators
Officials believe the girl was outside playing in front of her home when the shooting occurred. Investigators say they don't believe the girl was the intended target of what appears to be a drive-by shooting.
Commander Fitzgerald says the only lookout information is for a dark-colored vehicle.
