71-year-old DC man getting a wish of a lifetime

Don Williams was just a little boy when he realized he loved music.

"I just started liking different types of music and listening to music and talking to people and going to see music," he said. "Just having experiences."

The longtime D.C. resident is now 71 years old. For many years, he has dreamed about visiting New Orleans. Now, a Colorado nonprofit called Wish of a Lifetime has granted that wish.

In May, they are sending him to the legendary New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

The organization honors seniors who have overcome challenges. Williams has certainly done that.

A few years ago he was hit by a car. He was also recently been treated for prostate cancer.

Williams says he always looks to the future. But right now, he is looking forward to his trip.
