3 violent armed robberies in Northwest DC within 2 hours

Two suspects are wanted after authorities said they were involved in three violent armed robberies in Northwest D.C. early Sunday morning.

Investigators said the robberies all happened within nearly two hours of each in the Columbia Heights-Mount Pleasant neighborhoods. Police released photos of the suspects, who they said are a man and a woman.

Authorities said the first robbery happened in the 1700 block of 15th Street, Northwest at about 5:10 a.m. when the suspects approached four victims and pulled a knife on them. The suspects assaulted one of the victims and robbed all four victims, according to police. The suspects then fled in a dark-colored sedan.

The second robbery happened in the 1300 block of Monroe Street, Northwest at about 6 a.m. when the suspects pulled a knife and pushed the victim to the ground, according to officials. The suspects robbed the victim and ran from the scene, police stated.

Detectives said the third robbery happened in the 1200 block of Quincy Street, Northwest at about 7:15 a.m. when the suspects pulled a knife on a suspect and assaulted her. The suspects robbed the victim and fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan, investigators said.

In all, detectives said the suspects made off with cash, phones, a backpack, credit cards and keys.

Witnesses said the man was armed with the knife and the woman stood by as the assaults and robberies occurred. Witnesses said they believed the sedan may be a Hyundai Sonata and it was unclear if there was a driver, who would be a third suspect.
