3 suspects attack off-duty officer, try to steal scooter during assault in Southeast DC, police say

WASHINGTON - Investigators are asking for help in identifying three suspects accused of assaulting and attempting to carjack an off-duty police officer and federal agent in the District.

According to a police report, the off-duty officer was on a scooter near the 1300 block of Potomac Avenue near Pennsylvania Avenue in Southeast, D.C. Friday when he was approached by three suspects.

The off-duty officer told police that the suspects punched him and knocked him off of his scooter. He told police that the suspects continued to strike him even after he identified himself.

According to the report, the off-duty officer says he almost lost consciousness before the suspects ran off.
