3 injured in fiery early morning in Frederick County

FREDERICK, Md. - Authorities say three people were injured in a fiery crash early Thursday morning in Frederick County.
The crash happened around 2 a.m. near Elmer Derr Road and Elmer Road. Officers say the vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a drainage culvert before bursting into flames.
The 26-year-old man behind the wheel suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview. The passengers, a 23-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, were both taken to Shock Trauma in critical but stable condition.

Police say alcohol and speed are contributing factors to the crash. The investigation is ongoing with charges pending, authorities say.
