LAUREL, Md. - Authorities say three people are dead and a child is fighting to stay alive after a domestic-related shooting in the Laurel area of Anne Arundel County.
The shooting was reported around 9:30 p.m. in a home in the 200 block of Federalsburg South.
Officers say they found three adult victims dead from gunshot wounds inside of the home. The shooter is believed to be among the dead. Investigators say there is no threat to the community.
A young child was also found inside of the home and was hospitalized.
Anne Arundel County Police Chief Amal Awad spoke with news crews at the scene Monday and called the shooting "traumatic" and "devastating."
"A young child right now is fighting for their life. This has to stop," Awad said.
Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman asked for prayers for the family as he called for an end to gun violence. "It’s a pandemic that seemed to have taken a little bit of a pause during the time when people where at home during COVID and has been reemerging with great force," Pittman said.
Crisis intervention teams are checking on neighbors and family members. The identities of the victims have not been released at this time.
