2 young girls missing from Northeast DC found safe, police say
WASHINGTON - Police say two young girls who had been missing from Northeast, D.C. have been found and are safe.
Officers say 13-year-old Jashia Gilbert and 12-year-old Demaia Strickland, who have been missing since Sunday have been located.
Police say they had last been seen in the 1600 block of Gales Street on December 30 around 5:20 p.m.
Police describe Gilbert as a black female with a medium complexion. She is 5-feet-1-inch tall and weighs between 130 and 135 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a black jacket, black jeans, multi-color scarf and turquois Van shoes.
Investigators describe Strickland as a black female with a medium complexion. She is 5-feet tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has brown eyes and was last seen wearing a green and white scarf, black jacket, tie-dyed hoodie, blue jeans and black slippers.
