2 stabbed in DC's Capitol Hill neighborhood; suspect in custody

Police say a suspect is in custody after he stabbed two people at a gas station along Pennsylvania Avenue in D.C.'s Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Officers responded to the area of 4th Street and Pennsylvania around 10 a.m. after a call for an assault. Two male victims were found with stab wounds at the scene. Both men were conscious and breathing when they were transported to a nearby hospital.

FOX 5's Paul Wagner reports that one of the victims was at the gas station when he was approached by the suspect and stabbed in the neck. The second victim was stabbed in the chest. The suspect then fled the gas station and was apprehended by police a short distance away.

Police told Wagner that the man's behavior indicated that he may have been under the influence of some type of substance. Witnesses at the scene say the man was acting erratically.

Police have not identified the suspect at this time.
