2 killed in Silver Spring crash

SILVER SPRING, Md. - Two people are dead after a crash involving a food delivery truck in Silver Spring early Saturday morning.

Police and rescue crews responded to the scene on New Hampshire Avenue near North Hampton Drive after the crash was reported around 5:45 a.m.

When they arrived, three people were trapped in a car and needed to be pulled free.

According to a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue official, all three suffered traumatic injuries and were unconscious.

Several lanes near the crash scene are blocked, and officials are cautioning drivers to seek alternate routes.

Montgomery County police investigators have not identified any of the people involved in the crash, nor have they indicated what may have caused it.
