2 brothers charged in Choptank River boat fight captured on video

Two Anne Arundel County brothers have been charged for a fight onboard a boat on Maryland's Eastern Shore that was captured on camera.

Asia Cooper Jr., 21, and Joel Thomas Cooper, 19, of Crownsville, are facing charges of second-degree assault, malicious destruction of property in excess of $1,000 and disorderly conduct and affray - fighting in public in a manner that disturbs the peace. Asia Cooper is also charged with reckless operation and negligent operation.

Maryland Natural Resources Police said the brothers were seen on video getting into a fist fight on a rented powerboat on July 23 during the Cambridge Yacht Club's Annual Regatta along the Choptank River. The incident was recorded by members of the race safety committee and led them to call police and the U.S. Coast Guard to respond after it was interfering with a sailboat race.

Police said there were three other passengers aboard the boat and the fight caused about $3,000 in damages to the boat.
