1 dead, 1 injured in Prince George's County dump truck crash

Officials in Prince George County say they are investigating after a truck driver was killed and another person injured during a crash in Brandywine.

Prince George's County police say they were called to Cedarville Road and Brandywine Road for the crash on Monday morning.

Officials say at around 9:30 a.m. a dump truck was traveling on Cedarville Road and for unknown reasons, the driver lost control, left the roadway, struck a tree and became engulfed in flames. The male driver was pronounced dead on scene, police say.

Upon seeing the driver's grave injuries, a second person tried to help but sustained non-life-threatening burns in the process.

The second person was taken to an area hospital.

Police say investigators are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash. They say Cedarville Road will be closed between Bee Oak Road and Dent Road until the investigation has concluded.
