TIMELINE: When the heaviest snow will fall

Published January 23, 2016 12:57 PM EST

Steady snow is falling across the area. Here are the key times that you will want to keep in mind during and after the storm:

1 P.M. - 8 P.M. SATURDAY: Storm begins to move away and snowfall will gradually start to lessen a bit. Winds will stay gusty with some gusts close to 40 mph. Expect 3 to 6 more inches to be added during this time frame.

AFTER 8 P.M. SATURDAY: Finally, after more than a day of constant snowfall, snow accumulations and winds will begin to diminish.

SUNDAY: Snowfall should be over, but expect travel to be limited. The region will begin digging out from the storm. Take precautions to avoid injury while shoveling snow from your property. It also might be a good time to build snowmen, start up a snowball fight or do some sledding.
