WASHINGTON - Powerful thunderstorms moved through the D.C. area on Monday causing fallen trees and power outages.
A lot of damage and debris were left behind as these storms passed through. The weather caused D.C. Fire and EMS crews to respond to a collapsed home under renovation in 7100 block of 9th Street in Northwest D.C. A nearby house was evacuated as a precaution, but the residents were allowed back into their home. There were no injuries reported.
Closer to the Maryland line on Everett Street in Northwest D.C., a large tree was uprooted and came down in the middle of the roadway blocking traffic to residential traffic in the area.
In Bethesda, Maryland, more fallen trees blocked the roadways on Duvall Drive.
As of Monday night, there are still some customers without power. Dominion Virginia Power reported more than 1,500 customers still in the dark while Pepco customers fared a bit better with around 300 customers without electricity.
