Heavy rain to continue overnight, major warm-up arrives Sunday with wind advisory

It was a cloudy, cold and wet Saturday with heavy rain expected overnight, but a major warm-up is coming to the DC region on Sunday.

Saturday's forecast consisted of a chilly rain with temperatures into the upper-30s to mid-40s across the area.

Forecast models show the heaviest rain will come overnight with some areas receiving up to an inch of rainfall and the potential for some thunder persists.

Early Sunday morning will see a couple of showers around sunrise, but the rest of the day will be dry with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 60s accompanied by sunshine.

FOX 5's Gwen Tolbart says a Wind Advisory will be in effect Sunday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. with gusty winds expected. The warm winds will boost the temperatures to the upper 60s.

Tolbart says scattered trees and power line damage is possible, along with difficulty driving high profile vehicles.
