Alberta clipper dumps snow in Minnesota

An Alberta clipper brought heavy snow and strong winds to areas of northern Minnesota Thursday and Friday.

At Big Bear Lodge and Cabins in Grand Marais, everything was blanketed by what was said to be 4.5 inches of snow.

The National Weather Service (NWS) later reported 5.8 inches of snow in the area

NWS issued a winter weather advisory that morning for areas of northeast Minnesota, including Grand Marais, urging drivers to be cautious.

The top recorded snowfall was in the town of Finland, about halfway between Duluth and Grand Marais, where 8.8 inches of snow fell.

The snow was expected to become lighter during the afternoon as the storm moved east toward Wisconsin.
