Wounded Prince William County officers to throw out first pitch at Nationals home opener

The Washington Nationals will be hosting their home opener at Nationals Park on Thursday and two Prince William County police officers wounded in a shooting while responding to a domestic-related call in Woodbridge will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Officers Jesse Hempen and David McKeown were injured after they were shot in an incident on Feb. 27 that also resulted in the shooting death of fellow Officer Ashley Guindon.

Police have charged Ronald Hamilton for the fatal shootings of Guindon and his wife at the Woodbridge home.

The police department also says there will be a moment of silence held to honor first responders and officers killed in the line of duty.

The Nationals host the Miami Marlins Thursday at 4:05 p.m.
