Redskins 2016 schedule released

The NFL has released the full regular season schedule for the 2016 season and the defending NFC East champion Washington Redskins will open up their season against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football.

The Redskins are looking to build off a 9-7 season and are coming off their first playoff appearance since 2012.

Washington will face the AFC North and NFC North teams for their non-divisional matchups this season.

After opening the season at home, the Redskins will host hated rival Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 18. After a road game against the New York Giants in Week 3, former Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will make his return to Fedex Field as the Cleveland Browns come for a visit on Oct. 2.

For the first time, the Redskins will travel to London as they will play the Cincinnati Bengals at Wembley Stadium on Oct. 30.

Washington's bye week comes in Week 9.

Other prime-time games this season include a Sunday Night Football matchup at home against the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 20. Four days later, the Redskins will travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Then they also have another Monday Night showdown, this time against the Super Bowl runner-up Carolina Panthers on Dec. 19 at Fedex Field.

The Redskins end their season at home on New Year's Day against division rival Giants.
