PHOTO: Washington Capitals pay tribute to Paris
WASHINGTON - There was hockey in Washington, D.C. on Friday night, but the before the puck dropped, the Capitals paid tribute to those impacted by the terror attacks that took place earlier in the day in Paris.
As the National Anthem played before the Capitals hosted the Calgary Flames, the ice was lit in blue, white, and red, just like the French flag. The team tweeted a photo of the ice, along with the message, "The National Anthem is playing, but tonight our thoughts are with Paris."
A series of attacks targeting young concert-goers and Parisians enjoying a Friday night out at popular nightspots killed as many as 120 people in the deadliest violence to strike France since World War II. CLICK HERE FOR UPDATES.
