Dozens of kids join Redskins' DeSean Jackson to 'Shop With A Jock'
STERLING, Va. - Less than 24 hours after a tough loss against the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson is in the giving mood and he's doing it with the help of some of his teammates.
This was an experience that made Black Friday at Walmart look like child's play and that's because it was. Fifty kids were getting an early Christmas present all thanks to Jackson and a few of his friends.
"It's memories you probably will never be able to give back, and it teaches them a lot about life and when they get to their point in their career where giving back and helping out and just making a difference," the star receiver said.
It is the third time Jackson let dozens of kids "Shop With A Jock." But he wasn't alone in this outing. Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy helped out as did wide receiver Jamison Crowder among others.
Each of these kids were chosen based on their family's situation and they were brought into the Walmart store in Sterling, Virginia with one mission -- spend a $100 gift card. For these kids, that would not be a problem.
As they piled those shopping carts high, the children are knocking a few things off the list to Santa.
If you're surprised Jackson and his teammates are doing this with a smile just a day after a tough loss -- don't be. Those tough feelings were left on the field and replaced by the Christmas spirit.
"My job is my job and me being able to be who I am, I'm able to come here and have fun with these young kids," said Jackson. "Regardless of last night, I'm still here today."
