FOX 5 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Mission Moments brought to you by WAWA
“When we walk, cancer runs” is the motivating theme for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walks. Supporters and survivors are walking again this year to raise money and awareness to fight blood cancers. LLS is the largest non-profit funder of cutting-edge research to advance cures.
To help people understand the importance of the LLS mission FOX 5, WaWa, and the WaWa Foundation are sharing this Mission Moments podcast. With interviews from cancer survivors, their families, people who are in the fight and information on research, we are hoping you will learn more about blood cancers and how those are working towards cures for everyone.
Jennifer Keating’s dad lost his battle with Leukemia in 2006. He was a larger than life public figure, spending many years as the public information officer for the Arlington County Police Department. Keating says she needed an outlet for her grief so she became a volunteer and now is a board chair. Her friend was diagnosed with the same cancer she lost her dad to, but this time, she said the work of LLS is giving her friend and others a fighting chance.
