Young girl hospitalized after being shot, police say

A toddler has been taken to the hospital after being shot in the leg in Southeast D.C., according to police.

Officials say it happened just after 3 p.m. at the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road, Southeast.

Sources tell FOX 5's Lindsay Watts that the young girl may have been playing with the gun. She is expected to survive.

The incident happened at the same apartment complex where a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed in September, and where a 6-year-old boy was injured by a stray bullet while playing on the playground last year.

This is a developing story. Stay with FOX 5 for updates.
