Woman found dead in Burtonsville pond identified

BURTONSVILLE, Md. - A body found in a Montgomery County pond earlier this week has been identified as a woman reported missing in November.

Montgomery County police say the medical examiner's office has identified the victim as 36-year-old Kristin Danielle Bessix.

She was found dead in the pond after officers responded to the 14200 block of Ballinger Terrace in Burtonsville at around 3:39 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police, Bessix was last seen by friends on Nov. 9 in the area of Castle Boulevard in Burtonsville, an area she was known to stay. After her family and friends were unable to contact her since then, Bessix's family reported her missing to police on Nov. 22.

The medical examiner's office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of Bessix's death.
