Woman arrested for embezzling nearly $100K, using to buy butt lift surgery, wedding dress: police

Authorities in Stafford County have arrested a woman they say embezzled nearly $100,000 while working as a bookkeeper and used the money to pay for personal purchases like furniture, a wedding dress and even a butt lift.

Deputies arrested 32-year-old Vanessa Cline on Wednesday charging her with five counts each of embezzlement, forgery and uttering.

Detectives believe Cline made numerous unauthorized personal purchases totaling $93,000 using a company credit card while working as a bookkeeper for No Limits Construction.

Among the unauthorized purchases Cline allegedly made were $2000 for a wedding dress, $25,000 for a wedding planner and over $7000 to a cosmetic surgeon in Florida for a butt lift procedure. Other purchase allegedly included clothing, perfume, household furniture, airline tickets, and an all-terrain vehicle. Police say she also forged five checks totaling nearly $10,000.

According to officials, Cline was hired by the company to replace a bookkeeper who pleaded guilty to charges last year after embezzling around $150,000 between 2016 and 2018.

Cline's bail was set at $8000.
