Water main break floods road in northwest DC

On a night when temperatures dropped causing slushy piles of snow to freeze, a major water main broke and flooded out a roadway in the northwest.

The break happened in the overnight hours Wednesday into Thursday on Calvert Street between 28th Street and Connecticut Avenue.

Water flowed on to the street for hours. FOX 5's Annie Yu says emergency crews had a hard time shutting off the water because of the snow.

No major traffic disruptions were reported, however, many homes and businesses in the area were without water.
