Virginia man arrested after woman reported dead in swimming pool, police say
WARRENTON, Va. - A Virginia man has been arrested, police say, after a woman was found dead in a swimming pool, according to officials.
Fauquier County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to a home in the 6700 block of Riley Road in Warrenton on Saturday for reports of an unconscious woman in a pool.
Officials say the woman, 53, lived at the home where she was found, dead on the back porch. Investigators say they found that woman was involved in a physical altercation with another person, and was later found by another person at the home.
Officials say they arrested 51-year-old Ashton Dunlap Berry, from Warrenton, with first-degree murder. Detectives say Berry is being held without bond at the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center.
This incident remains under investigation, officials say.
