Viral video of WWII veteran being honored at his Gardena home is melting hearts across the internet

Emotional video of a World War II veteran "having one of the best days of his life" after being honored in front of his Gardena home recently has touched many people after being widely viewed and shared online.

Ernest Thompson served on the USS Missouri during the war, the sister ship to the USS Iowa, based in San Pedro.

But Thompson's in his 90's now, and hasn't been able to visit the ship recently, so a group of Navy Chief Selects, brought the navy to him, singing "Anchors aweigh" in the middle of his residential street.

They then walked up and shook Thompson's hand.
