Va. State Police: 6-year-old who died after Fauquier County crash wasn't in a booster seat

A 6-year-old boy was wearing a seatbelt, but he was not properly secured in a booster seat during a crash in Fauquier County on Sunday that led to his death, according to Virginia State Police.

The 6-year-old succumbed to his injuries at Fairfax Inova Hospital on Tuesday, according to police.

The child - along with a 27-year-old man and a 10-year-old boy - were injured when their BMW went off the road on Interstate 66, striking a sign post and multiple trees.

The 10-year-old suffered serious injuries while the 27-year-old suffered minor injuries, authorities stated.
Officials said their investigation was ongoing and stated charges were pending.
