Traceable liquid allows police to identify belongings in event of burglary

A new crime fighting tool is coming to Prince George's County that allows residents to mark their personal belongings with a liquid that contains a unique forensic code in the event of a burglary.

Once the liquid, called 'SmartWater,' is applied, it can only be seen under UV light. Police say the liquid will make identifying stolen items easier for officials investigating thefts.

The invisible liquid also marks criminals and can be used to link a suspects to a particular crime scene.
