People around the world are putting in their reservations to buy the newest Tesla - the Model 3.

Tesla is taking reservations at its stores when they open today, which is why people have been camping outside stores, like the one in Walnut Creek.

Tesla fans say they cannot wait to get their hands on a Model 3, because they say the car represents the energy future and they are made in America.

No one knew what they looked like yet, until the official unveiling by Tesla founder, Elon Musk, who did the honors at an event Thursday night. One woman said the mystery of the car's appearance didn't stop her husband.

"My husband is really excited about it," said Sue Brandy. "He will be here in the morning to put in his reservation to buy a car he hasn't seen yet."

People who don't want to go to a Tesla store, can put in their reservation and make their $1,000 deposit online starting at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Delivery is scheduled for sometime next year, and the full price is $35,000, making them more affordable.
