WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - After bitter cold temperatures gripped the D.C. region for much of the beginning of the year, warmer weather is moving in our direction - and it should hang around for a while!
FOX 5's Mike Thomas says temperatures will take a jump Monday afternoon and may reach 60 degrees before we get into the evening hours. Clear skies with plenty of sunshine are in store as milder air moves in.
It will certainly feel like summer in the D.C. area on Tuesday as temperatures continue to climb. Thomas says look for highs in the upper 60s before the day is through. Warmer air stays in the region through Friday with highs ranging from the mid-50s on Wednesday to the upper 60s on Thursday before chilly temperatures return for the weekend.
The late-week warm temperatures bring the possibility of rain, Thomas says. A few showers are possible Wednesday and Thursday and are likely on Friday. No rain in the forecast over the weekend but temperatures drop back into the 40s on Saturday and Sunday.
