WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum is opening an exhibit of moon photographs.

"A New Moon Rises: New Views from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera" is opening Friday. The Smithsonian says in a statement that the exhibit will include 61 images of the moon showing its mountains and craters.

The images were taken by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, which was launched by NASA in 2009.
