Smash-and-grab robbery at Montgomery Mall jewelry store leaves shoppers uneasy

A smash-and-grab jewelry theft at Westfield Montgomery Mall has left some shoppers feeling unsafe.

What we know:

Witnesses say a man dressed in a delivery uniform entered Elite Jewelers Tuesday evening, smashed a glass display case with a hammer, and stole a large amount of jewelry.  

Exclusive cell phone video shows Montgomery County police collecting evidence from inside the store. 

Though no one was hurt, some mall-goers expressed safety concerns. 

What they're saying:

"It doesn’t make me feel safe," said shopper Lasonne Richardson. "It makes me feel as if you have to watch your back every time, you’re in the mall. You have to clutch your purse when you’re in the mall."

"You should not steal, period. Nobody should steal," said George, another shopper. "I don’t want anyone to steal anything from me."

What we don't know:

Police have not released surveillance footage and are urging anyone with information to contact them. They have not revealed any official details regarding the suspect or a motive. It's also currently unclear the value of the items the suspect stole.
