Sheriff's office: Heroin found in woman's vagina

A Hagerstown woman arrested for having drugs in her vehicle during a traffic stop was also found with heroin in her vagina after a body scan was conducted at the detention center she was booked, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities say 23-year-old Brittany Ann Sapp was stopped Saturday afternoon for a traffic violation on I-70 in the area of Linganore Road. A K-9 unit responded to assist the sheriff's deputy during the stop and located heroin in the vehicle.

After being taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing, a body scan of Sapp showed she had 1.7 grams of heroin in her vagina. She was taken to the hospital after concern that the hidden bag of heroin had ruptured before being released back to the detention center.

Sapp was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of contraband in a place of confinement.
