Shaw residents suffer power outages after report of smoking manhole
WASHINGTON - D.C residents in the Shaw neighborhood encountered power outages on Friday due to a feeder problem, Pepco said.
About 5,400 customers were without power Friday night after a report of an explosion and smoke coming from a manhole in the area of 14th and V Streets in Northwest D.C.
Pepco crews have responded to the scene and were assessing the damage to the equipment in the area. The underground repairs are expected to take some time and restoration of power is expected early Saturday, according to Pepco.
