School security guard sentenced to 18-months for sexual relationship with 17-year-old female student

A former Montgomery County Schools security guard who pleaded guilty to sex abuse charges involving a 17-year-old female student has been sentenced to 18-months in prison.

58-year-old Mark Yantsos was first arrested in April of this year after he was accused of having a sexual relationship with the teen who was a student at Richard Montgomery High School.

Police say Yantsos gave the girl gifts, including a diamond necklace and iPhone, before the sex abuse started.

After being released on bail, police say Yantsos continued to see the teen. His bail was later revoked.

Under the conditions of the plea deal, Yantsos will serve 18-months in prison

Yantsos previously worked for the New York City Police Department. According to Montgomery County Schools, officials found that in 1994 he was accused of threatening a female with a revolver. Somehow this wasn't detected when Yantsos was hired.
