Rockville parents charged in death of their baby daughter

Montgomery County police have arrested the parents of a 10-week-old girl for her death in June.

Police have charged 24-year-old Robert Davidson with second-degree murder, neglect of a minor, sexual abuse of a minor, multiple child abuse charges and second-degree sex offense.

The child's mother, 22-year-old Lorena Thompson, is also facing child abuse charges, neglect of a minor and failing to protect her daughter from chronic physical and sexual abuse inflicted by the girl's father.

Police say Davidson called 911 on June 23 reporting that his daughter, Aleah Thompson, was not breathing and unresponsive at their home.

The baby was transported to a hospital where she died three days later. The medical examiner's office ruled her death as a homicide by multiple blunt force injuries.

After interviews with police, Davidson admitted to aggresively shaking the baby that day and admitted he had dropped the girl several times before and she had even rolled off the couch on one occasion. He said he did not take the girl to receive any medical care for these incidents.

Davidson also admitted to committing acts that constituted sexual abuse of a child, police say.

Police say Thompson told investigators that she had seen injuries to her daughter on multiple occasions after being in the care of the father, but did not take her to receive medical treatment.

The parents were arrested Friday afternoon at their home.
