Reported drunk driver hits Maryland state trooper
NEW CARROLLTON, Md. - An inebriated driver hit a trooper who was pulling over another vehicle for a traffic violation in Prince George's County early Sunday morning, according to officials.
The intoxicated driver has been identified as 31-year-old Andrew John Mitchell of New Carrollton, Maryland.
Prince George's County police are reporting Mitchell hit the back of Trooper Koziol's patrol car with his Dodge Ram pickup truck after Trooper Koziol had slowed on I-495 south of Annapolis Road for a traffic stop at around 1 a.m. this morning.
Mitchell was arrested for driving under the influence, officials say.
Trooper Koziol was transported to the hospital by Prince George's County Fire Department personnel.
