Private ambulance company to begin service in DC Monday

WASHINGTON - DC Fire and EMS will begin using a private ambulance company to transport certain patients starting Monday.

The service will operate 18 hours a day and will only take patients with injuries or illnesses that are considered to be minor medical emergencies.

The DC Fire and EMS will, however, still arrive on scene to all calls to evaluate patients and determine what care they need and how they will be transported.
