Prince George's County police officer under investigation after woman claims inappropriate contact

Prince George's County police say that an officer has been suspended after a woman claimed he had inappropriate contact with her near a Metro station.

According to police officials, the officer responded to a location in Bowie to mediate a dispute around 4 a.m.

They say with the agreement of the shift officer, the officer agreed to give a woman involved in the dispute a ride, dropping her off around 5 a.m. at the New Carrollton Metro Station around 5 a.m.

Police say the woman alleges that when they arrived at a Metro station, the officer touched her inappropriately, and then reported the incident to Metro police.

Metro police are leading the investigation into the woman's claims, while Prince George's County police are conducting their own internal investigation.

Police say they held a news conference to address the matter in the interests of transparency.

They noted that the veteran officer involved - who has not been identified - has never had similar claims made against him.

They say the officer is cooperating with their investigation.

If anyone has any information regarding this investigation, they are asked to call Metro Transit Police detectives at 301-955-5000.
