Prince George's County man arrested in Hyattsville murder, police say

HYATTSVILLE, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - A man has been arrested in a Prince George's County murder, authorities announced on Thursday.

The Prince George's County Police Department said 49-year-old Joseph Deloatch was arrested for shooting a man to death in Hyattsville on Wednesday.

Detectives said the shooting occurred in the 3700 block of Hamilton Street at about 1:45 a.m. The victim, who was found in a home suffering from gunshot wounds, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deloatch was found a short time later in Bowie and arrested, according to officials. Police said their preliminary investigation reveals Deloatch and the victim, who has not been identified by authorities, were involved in an argument when Deloatch shot the victim.

Deloatch has been charged with first-degree murder and was being held without bond.
