President Trump speaks at National Prayer Breakfast
WASHINGTON - President Donald Trump kicked off the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. with a speech Thursday morning.
The National Prayer Breakfast is traditionally an all-day event held each year on the first Thursday of February. Leaders from over 100 countries and members of Congress are expected to gather.
The opening speech is a tradition that's been performed by every president since Dwight Eisenhower in 1952
This year, Super Bowl champion and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is expected to speak at the National Prayer Breakfast dinner.
Last year, during his first National Prayer Breakfast speech, President Donald Trump asked guests to "pray" for actor and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger because of poor TV ratings of his show, 'The Apprentice.'
