Police: Woman murders mom with elephant statue

Melbourne Police arrested 38-year-old Stephanie Dobson for murdering her mother, Susan Dobson. Officers said the incident happened last Saturday, inside the Harvard condominium in which they lived, just off of Palm Bay Road.

In her arrest affidavit, it states that detectives found bloody footprints that matched Stephanie's, and that it appeared she hit her mother in the head with a blunt object, possibly an elephant statue from her mother's art collection.

The affidavit also claims before the murder, Stephanie told a friend she wanted to kill her mother, and asked another friend if he would do it for her.

Police said Stephanie called 911 and claimed she found her mother dead inside the condominium after she returned home from a shopping trip.
