Police: Vienna man fatally stabbed ex-wife, shot self
VIENNA, Va. - Police in Vienna said a man and his ex-wife have both died in an apparent murder-suicide Sunday evening.
Police said they received a call at around 6:45 p.m. about an injured woman, later identified as Sabrina Titus, stabbed in the upper body in the 100 block of Oak Street SW.
According to neighbors, the 47-year-old woman was at her house on Oak Street when her ex-husband, 53-year-old Ralph Titus, came over and an altercation took place. Neighbors said they heard screaming from inside the house and saw Ralph Titus take off. His ex-wife then came outside with a stab wound to her neck.
Neighbors called 911 and one of them said they tried to stop the bleeding while waiting for medics to arrive. Sabrina Titus was taken to Fairfax Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Then about a mile away, police said they got another call a few minutes later on Ross Drive SW for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found Ralph Titus in the backyard with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the upper body.
The former couple had two children together and was divorced. Police said the kids were home at the time and were not harmed.
Right now, police said they are waiting for medical examiner to confirm the exact cause of death.
