Police: Vandals smash more than 100 car windows in NY town

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) -- Residents woke up to an unwelcomed surprise when they found that vandals swept through an upstate New York city, breaking the windows of more than 100 cars.

Police say vandals likely used a BB or pellet gun to smash the windows between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Wednesday. Investigators say a handful of businesses in Schenectady also had their windows broken out.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage to try to catch the vandals and are asking any businesses with cameras to review their footage.

Police say they aren't aware of any property stolen from the vehicles.
