Police: Teen stabs another teen at Silver Spring bus stop

Montgomery County police have charged a 14-year-old boy for the assault and stabbing of a teenage girl at a public transit bus stop in Silver Spring.

According to police, the stabbing happened shortly after 3 p.m. at University Boulevard East and East Franklin Avenue nearby Eastern Middle School. The suspect fled from the area on foot before he was later taken into custody by an officer.

Police say the suspect is believed to have used a knife in the attack.

The 14-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

The suspect is being charged as a juvenile with first-degree assault.
