Police say man with mental health issues taken into custody after firing shots into apartment

Police have taken an 18-year-old man with mental health issues into custody after they say he fired gunshots into a neighboring apartment in Prince George's County and then fled the area.

Officers say Donte Domonique Blackwell, who has been diagnosed as schizophrenic, was taken into custody Monday morning. Blackwell lives in the 7900 block of Mandan Road in the Greenbelt area.

Blackwell was taken into custody without incident in the 7600 block of Hanover Parkway near Eleanor Roosevelt High School. As a precaution, officers say the school was on a modified lockdown and student were temporarily moved to classrooms inside the main building. All school functions are now back to normal.
