Two D.C. women have been arrested for assault after police say they injured five officers who saw them shoplifting at Tysons Corner Center in Virginia.

Bianca Keyani Jackson, 23, and Kenya Crawley, 24, were both charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, grand larceny and larceny with intent to sell.

Fairfax County police say plain clothes officers assigned to the mall observed the two women stealing more than $12,000 in merchandise from stores inside the mall at around 2 p.m. Thursday. Most of the items were makeup and high-end lingerie.

When the suspects were approached by the officers to arrest them, the women kicked, bit and spit at the officers, police say.

The women were eventually taken into custody and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
