Police identify truck driver, struck and killed by his own tractor-trailer at I-95 rest stop

WATERLOO, Md. - Police are investigating after they say a tractor-trailer driver died Saturday after they say he was struck by his own truck at a rest stop off I-95 South in Howard County.

Maryland State Police say they received a call just after 7 a.m. Saturday morning, at the I-95 rest stop, just south of the Patuxent River Bridge.

Investigators say 64-year-old Jose Ngoran Amoa, 64, from Laurel, Md. was struck and killed after he was caught between two trucks -- his own tractor-trailer and a dump truck he had parked behind.

Investigators say Amoa got out of his tractor-trailer and was walking between the two trucks when his tractor-trailer began to drift forward into the dump truck and he became wedged between the two.

Police say Amoa was pronounced dead at the scene.

Maryland State Police say they found Amoa failed to set the parking brake on his tractor-trailer before getting out of the truck, which led to it drifting forward.

Police say the crash is still under investigation.
