Pedestrian fatally struck by Amtrak train in Rockville
ROCKVILLE, Md. - Authorities said a 39-year-old man has died after being struck by an Amtrak train in Rockville.
Amtrak said a train heading from Washington D.C. to Chicago hit the pedestrian who was trespassing onto the tracks at around 4:25 p.m. Wednesday about nine miles west of Amtrak's Rockville station. Police said the victim's body was then located on the tracks behind a Target store on Bou Avenue.
The accident caused a disruption on MARC's Brunswick Line.
The train was back in service at 7:38 p.m.
Montgomery County police are investigating the incident.
